Master brand identity

A proprietary asset for X2A — not a cybersecurity logo.

This is the strategic case, the concept set, the recommendation and the working system. It is built around one test: does this look like X2A first, and cybersecurity second?

X2A

Cyber Solutions

01 / Brand strategy

Vigilance by Design

Security is not bolted on. It is designed, embedded, monitored, strengthened and continuously improved. The identity has to carry that sequence without ever illustrating it literally.

Brand promise

X2A turns cybersecurity from a defensive obligation into the foundation for resilient growth.

Strategic idea

Designed → embedded → monitored → strengthened → improved. A continuous loop, not a perimeter.

Recognition order

X2A first. Cyber Solutions second. The descriptor is demountable so the master brand can extend.

02 / Current positioning

Built on what already exists

The live site already positions X2A around orchestrating cyber resilience for the modern enterprise, spanning advisory and awareness, cyber hygiene training, managed services, security operations, risk and compliance. That is the foundation — not a story to be replaced.

The intersection X2A owns

Security × Business × Resilience × Human behaviour × Technical execution. Most competitors credibly claim two or three of these. X2A's proposition depends on holding all five — which argues for an identity built on relationship and structure, not on a threat symbol.

What this demands of the mark
  • Credible in a boardroom before it is credible in a SOC.
  • Calm under a category that sells with fear.
  • Able to head a one-page proposal and a 60-page assessment report.
  • Extensible to service sub-brands without redrawing anything.
03 / Competitive visual analysis

What the category has already used up

Analysis of the visual conventions running through enterprise security and infrastructure branding — studied for differentiation, never for imitation.

Saturated
  • Navy + electric blue
  • Shields, padlocks, keys
  • Hexagons and node meshes
  • Glowing gradients on dark
  • Wide-tracked tech grotesques
Becoming generic
  • Abstract orbital swooshes
  • Corner-bracket containment marks
  • Single-letter geometric monograms
  • Cyan-on-charcoal SOC aesthetics
  • Gradient mesh backgrounds
Underused — X2A's opening
  • Oxidised green as a security signal
  • Warm accent for the human dimension
  • Marks derived from the alphanumeric name itself
  • Editorial, document-grade typography
  • Restraint as a credibility cue
04 / Brand personality

Seven characteristics, validated against the business

Each trait is only kept if it changes a design decision. Vigilance changes rhythm and consistency; humanity changes the accent palette; precision changes the grid.

  • Vigilant

Attention that never lapses — expressed as consistency, not alarm.

  • Precise

Every claim measurable, every recommendation specific.

  • Strategic

Security framed as a business decision before a technical one.

  • Resilient

Designed to absorb impact and recover, not merely to block.

  • Intelligent

Judgement over jargon; evidence over fear.

  • Human

People are the control surface, not the weak link.

  • Confident

Calm authority in a category that trades on anxiety.

05 / Creative territories

Five strategic routes, four taken to concept

Territories are directions of thought, not designs. Each was interrogated for whether it could produce something ownable at 16 pixels.

A — Intelligent Monogram

Build the symbol out of X, 2 and A themselves. Highest ownability; the mark can never be generic because it is the name.

B — Designed Vigilance

Continuous awareness expressed as measurement and rhythm. No eyes, no radar sweeps.

C — Resilience Architecture

Layers, reinforcement, interconnection — structure that absorbs impact.

D — Human + Technology

The relationship between judgement and automation, held as two states in one form.

E — Precision & Forward Motion

Controlled progression: from obligation to advantage. Direction without arrows.

06 / Logo concepts

Four concepts, each with a defensible reason to exist

Every mark below is drawn as pure geometry and shown in colour, monochrome and reverse — the three conditions that kill weak logos.

01Ascent

91 / 100

A — Intelligent Monogram × E — Precision & Forward Motion

Two nested ascending chevrons. The outer form is the apex of the A and the upper half of an implied X; the inner, offset form is the 2 — the second state, the response that follows the threat. The interval between them is the designed space where vigilance operates.

Strength

Derived entirely from the name. Reads as a single silhouette at 16px, holds at signage scale, and carries direction without arrows or motion clichés.

Risk

Chevron forms are common; ownership comes from the exact nesting ratio and gap, which must be locked and never redrawn by hand.

02Crossfield

75 / 100

C — Resilience Architecture

Four right-angled brackets hold an open centre crossed by a short diagonal. Structure reinforces a space rather than sealing it — resilience as architecture, not as a wall.

Strength

Strong enterprise/technical register; sits naturally on dashboards and diagrams.

Risk

Bracket-and-corner systems are drifting toward generic in cloud and devtools branding; the X is implied rather than owned.

03Two-State

78 / 100

D — Human + Technology

One square cut on the diagonal, the halves offset by a controlled gap: before and after, risk and resilience, human judgement and machine execution. The gap forms the X axis.

Strength

Bold, confident, unusually simple; exceptional at avatar and favicon size.

Risk

High abstraction weakens the link to the name; the solid mass can feel corporate-generic in monochrome print.

04Continuum

66 / 100

B — Designed Vigilance

Ascending columns severed by one precise diagonal — a maturity curve under continuous measurement. Vigilance rendered as a reading, not as an eye.

Strength

Directly echoes the maturity-assessment product and the advisory proposition; excellent in report and data contexts.

Risk

Reads as a chart before it reads as a brand; the fine diagonal fails below 24px and in embroidery or etching.

07 / Concept comparison

Scored against strategy, not aesthetics

Attractive but strategically weak concepts are rejected. Continuum is the clearest example: a beautiful diagram that fails as a brand asset below 24 pixels.

09 / Logo system

One mark, every context

The descriptor is demountable, the symbol is standalone, and every lockup is built on the same optical alignment between the mark's apex and the cap height of the wordmark.

Graphite, verdigris and a warm human signal

Navy and electric blue were rejected on the grounds of saturation, not taste. Verdigris — oxidised copper — is a material that strengthens as it weathers: the most accurate available metaphor for resilience, and rare in enterprise security.

Graphite Ink

#0E1518

Primary / dark background · RGB 14 21 24

A near-black with a cool green undertone. Reads as substance and restraint rather than the default cyber navy.

Slate Steel

#2B3A40

Secondary surface · RGB 43 58 64

Structural mid-tone for panels, rules and secondary UI. Carries the identity without competing with the accent.

Verdigris

#12B39B

Accent — primary signal · RGB 18 179 155

Oxidised copper green: a material that strengthens as it weathers. Ownable in a category saturated by electric blue, and legible on both light and dark grounds.

Signal Copper

#C4703C

Accent — human warmth · RGB 196 112 60

Used sparingly for the human dimension — awareness, training, advisory. Prevents the system reading as an anonymous machine platform.

Paper

#FBFBFA

Light background · RGB 251 251 250

Warm off-white for documents and web. Reduces the clinical glare of pure white in long-form reports.

Ink Text

#151B1E

Primary text · RGB 21 27 30

16.8:1 on Paper. Passes AAA at all sizes.

Muted Text

#5C6B71

Secondary text · RGB 92 107 113

5.1:1 on Paper. Passes AA for body copy; not to be used below 14px.

Accessibility rules
  • Verdigris is never used for body text on Paper; it is a signal, a rule or a fill.
  • Ink on Paper and Paper on Graphite both clear AAA at body sizes.
  • Signal Copper appears at no more than 10% of any composition.
  • State is never communicated by colour alone — always colour plus label or shape.
11 / Typography

Executive presence, engineered numerals

A neo-grotesque display face for authority and a highly legible text face for documents and interfaces. No futuristic cyber faces, no wide tracking as a shortcut to technology.

Display — Instrument Sans Semibold

Resilience

Headlines, wordmark, section titles. Tracking locked at −3% at display sizes; never letterspaced positively.

Text — Inter

Security designed into how an organisation operates.

Body copy, proposals, reports and UI. Optical sizing on; 1.6 line height minimum in long-form documents.

Data — tabular numerals

0123456789

Maturity scores, findings counts and dashboard figures always set tabular so columns align across a report.

12 / Brand architecture

One master brand, interchangeable descriptors

The symbol and wordmark never change. Only the descriptor line beneath — set in the same size, weight and tracking — identifies the offering.

Proof that it works as a system

A logo survives review. A system survives use. These are the environments the identity has to hold in.

14 / Brand guidelines & tagline

The rules that keep the asset ownable

Vigilance by Design is retained as the corporate line. It is short, ownable, states the strategy rather than the category, and is already established on the site — replacing it would forfeit equity for no strategic gain.

Tagline system

Vigilance by Design

Corporate line — used with the master brand only.

Supporting lines (campaign / service level)

Resilience, engineered in.

Security that scales with ambition.

From obligation to advantage.

Designed to withstand.

Every employee, a guardian.

Non-negotiables
  • Clear space equals the height of the inner chevron on all four sides. Nothing enters it.
  • Minimum symbol size: 16px digital, 8mm print.
  • Never rotate, outline, add depth, add a container other than the approved square/circle, or place the symbol inside a shield.
  • Never re-letterspace or recolour the wordmark's characters ad hoc.
  • On photography, use the reverse lockup on a solid graphite panel — never directly on an image.
  • The descriptor changes; the symbol and wordmark never do.
